Handbuilt spiral vessel

Stoneware spiral urn. Hand built, 2018. Reduction fired to Cone 10. Various glazes, Measures approximately: 21″ height X 13″ at widest diameter.    These vessels are made by pinching long thin strips of wet clay in spirals together to build the form. I think of the pieces as having two parts to the shape: the spine, which curves around the whole vessel and the form underneath. There is something extremely meditative about building these vessels.
