Porcelain Hand Built Small Vase

Porcelain spiral hand built small vase, with salt yellow glaze. Reduction fired to cone 10 in gas kiln. Measures 14″ height X 7″ widest diameter. 2017  These vessels are made by pinching long thin strips of wet clay in spirals together to build the form. I think of the pieces as having two parts to the shape: the spine, which curves around the whole vessel and the form underneath. There is something extremely meditative about building these vessels.
