Spiral cone vase in flat black

Stoneware gas fired to cone 10 with flat black acrylic paint. Measures approximately 16.5″ height X 12″ width.  These vessels are made by pinching long thin strips of wet clay in spirals together to build the form. I think of the pieces as having two parts to the shape: the spine, which curves around the whole vessel and the form underneath. There is something extremely meditative about building these vessels.
